Ex Katunga junior, now highly acclaimed football author Dan Eddy will be the compere of the night and will share his story about his mental health and diagnosis with Asperger’s Syndrome. Dan has gone on to be one of the most prolific Australian non fiction authors publishing 12 highly regarded books including ‘King Richard – the story of Essendon legend Dick Reynolds’, ‘Crimmo – the Peter Crimmins story’, ‘Larrikins and Legends’, ‘the Norm Smith medallists’ and ‘the Skills of Australian Football’ to name just a few.
Joining Dan on the stage will be Ken Sheldon. Ken is a former Australian Rules footballer in the Victorian Football League. He is the father of Brisbane Lions’ player Sam Sheldon. Recruited from Mitiamo, Sheldon, a rover, debuted with the Carlton Football Club in 1977. He wore the number 5 guernsey. In 1979 he kicked 53 goals and topped Carlton’s goalkicking for the year. Ken is remembered for receiving the ball from sliding Wayne Harmes and kicking the winning goal to give the Blues a premiership over Collingwood in 1979. Ken is a three time Carlton premiership player and ex St Kilda player and coach.
Netball Hall of Fame inductee and former Australian Vice-Captain Shelley O’Donnell will join Dan and Ken. A prolific Centre, O’Donnell’s record both playing and coaching speaks for itself. She formed part of the World Cup winning Australian teams in 1991, 1995 and 1999 the latter as Vice-Captain. In an international career spanning 10 years O’Donnell represented her country on 84 occasions, further to this she was also the inaugural captain of the Melbourne Kestrels between 1997-2000.
